Warriors CEO Cameron George has praised the selflessness of club legend - and birthday boy - Simon Mannering, as he prepares to play his 300th NRL match.
Mannering, 32, will retire at the end of the current season, with Friday's clash with the Raiders at Mt Smart Stadium his 300th in a Warriors jersey.
To commemorate the occasion, fans can pay between $5 and $50 for tickets, with George appearing on TVNZ 1's Breakfast this morning to praise Mannering's outstanding service to the Warriors - where he has spent his entire NRL career.
"(He's) probably our greatest Warrior ever," George said.
"You try and build any organisation around quality people and characteristics that set standards, and very high standards - Simon carries them all.
"He's a guy that puts the club first, puts his teammates first, he's very humble, but he's the hardest working person out there on the field.
"We as a club are very honoured and very proud to have had him in our jumper for a long time, and our supporters get the chance to fill up the stadium to salute what we believe is a true champion of our sport.
"In rugby league circles, he's one of the best ever."
Tickets for the Warriors' clash with the Raiders go on sale at midday today.
