The Black Ferns Sevens will finally have the chance to play in front of their own fans, with the confirmation of a Hamilton 'Fast Four' quadrangular event to take place starting next year.
With the success of this year's Sydney leg of the World Sevens Series, which saw the men's and women's competition run concurrently with one another, New Zealand Rugby have moved to implement a similar event on home shores, with Hamilton to play host.
France, China and England will travel to New Zealand, taking part in the inaugural tournament from January 26-27.
Appearing at Hamilton Girls High School this morning, star players Portia Woodman, Kelly Brazier and captain Sarah Goss were on hand to reveal the news.
We get to play in some amazing places around the world but nothing will beat playing at home in front of a full stadium," Goss said.
"It will be a great opportunity to wear the black jersey in front of our families, friends and incredible fans at a great event.
"Hosting France, England and China will be an exciting tournament; they are all tough opponents so we won't be taking anything for granted."
