Man wanted for armed robbery in Christchurch petrol station

A man is wanted by Police after an aggravated robbery at a Christchurch petrol station last night.

The robbery happened at around 8:20 when the male offender entered Challenge service station on Blighs Road.

He was armed with a claw hammer and threatened the attendant with the hammer before making away with cigarettes and cash.

The man was wearing a distinctive black cap with a white logo and carrying a black backpack, also with a white logo.

He was last seen running down Blighs Road toward Wairakei Road.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who has information on the incident, contact Detective Sergeant Mike Freeman on 363 7400.
