Taranaki have held on to the Log o' Wood in dominant fashion after disposing of Manawatu 41-21 tonight.
After trading early tries in the contest at Yarrow Stadium, Taranaki built on their 17-14 lead with tries off the scrum to Teihorangi Walden and Toa Halafihi to own a 31-14 lead at the break.
The Bulls then got the second half off to a perfect start through Daniel Waite who shrugged off three defenders to score a try of his own from another Taranaki scrum.
Manawatu managed a late reply through Rob Thompson but it wasn't enough to impact their Ranfurly Shield challenge.
The win sees Taranaki shake off their shock loss to Bay of Plenty last week while Manawatu now sit at one win and one loss to start the season as well.
