Hawke's Bay have continued their strong start to 2018 with a second win away from home after taking down Otago 31-25 in Dunedin this afternoon.
In a rollercoaster affair, the Magpies followed the strong performances of stars Brad Weber and Gareth Evans to overcome a 17-14 halftime deficit and continue their perfect start to the season.
Weber set up a stunning try late in the second half, running down the blindside of a collapsed maul before passing to winger Mason Emerson who still had 40 metres to go before he could finish the try.
But the speedster pinned his ears back and sprinted for the left corner, brushing off two sweeping Otago defenders to get the the job done and give Hawke's Bay a 24-20 lead.
Weber crossed over for his own try three minutes later which proved to be the game-winner after Otago responded late with a try to Sevens star Vilimoni Koroi.
With the result, Otago begin their 2019 campaign with two losses while the Magpies sit at the top of table on two wins.
