Otago are looking to get their season on track today after coming up short to Wellington but they're up against a fired-up Magpies outfit fresh off a big win over Southland.
Otago were humbled 34-16 by the Lions but it wasn't helped by a 17-point burst by Wellington in the opening 10 minutes while Hawke's Bay disposed of the Stags 31-10.
This afternoon's hosts will know if they can erase that early lapse in defence they'll have a strong chance to take the win, having taken 34 of the 56 clashes between the two provinces; Hawke's Bay have won 21 with just the one draw in the teams' histories.
Still, Otago's most recent memory of facing the black and white is a positive one too - blowing the Magpies out of the park with a 64-21 win last September.
In the process, they snapped a six-game losing streak to the squad from the Hawke's Bay.
