Two critical after crash near South Island's Lake Benmore

Four people are injured, two critically, after a car crashed into a bank by Lake Benmore.

Police say the crash happened at 7.45pm on Wednesday at Lake View Place near Omarama in the South Island.

The two with critical injuries have been flown to Dunedin Hospital.

The other two are in serious and moderate conditions.

The Serious Crash Unit has been called to the scene.
