Charges laid against woman following death of toddler Comfort Joy Witeri-Thompson

Charges against a 24-year-old woman have been laid following the death of toddler Comfort Joy Witeri-Thompson.

The 18-month-old died in Waikato Hospital on July 24th following an incident at a Tirau address.

Police say in a statement the woman's charges "are in relation to offending against Comfort, but not in relation to her death".

She appeared in Rotorua District Court this morning.

Police say further charges are likely as the investigation into Comfort's death continues.
