NZ Defence Force team called to Auckland Airport after passenger declares WWII artillery shells

Emergency services were called to Auckland International Airport after a passenger declared two WWII artillery shells in his luggage yesterday.

The area was evacuated after the passenger, who was in the arrivals hall, declared the shells at around 10.10pm.

The New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordinance team was also in attendance.

A police spokesperson told 1 NEWS that all activities had resumed before 11pm.
