A young New Zealand woman has died after jumping from a highway bridge in Canada today.
According to a report from the Salmon Arm Observer a 23-year-old Kiwi woman was one of four people to jump from a bridge in Sicamous, British Columbia, in the early hours of the morning.
Around 2am (local time) emergency services were called to the Bruhn Bridge, where a woman was in medical distress after jumping from the bridge into the channel.
The 23-year-old failed to resurface immediately after her jump, and was then helped to shore by the others present.
A release from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police says the Kiwi woman was transported to a local hospital and then to a larger hospital in the area before she was pronounced dead.
The Coroners Service is now investigating the death which police say isn't suspicious.
