One person dead near Tauranga after early-morning crash involving truck and car

Police say one person has died in a crash this morning at Omanawa, near Tauranga.

Emergency services were called about 4am, police said, and the crash involved a truck and a car.

It took place on Pyes Pa Road near Taumata Road.

A section of the road is closed while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
