Man taken to hospital after suffering shotgun wound while duck shooting

Police say a man has been taken to hospital after he suffered a shotgun wound while duck hunting in Southland.

The injury was not considered to be life threatening, but the man, 46, was taken to Invercargill Hospital by helicopter from a rural property in the western districts area.

Police say other people were present when the man was shot, and that inquiries are underway to determine exactly what happened.
