Tornado hits Tauranga, blows over garage

A small tornado has hit just south of Tauranga this afternoon, blowing over a garage.

The tornado was reported to emergency services around 1.30pm today on Pyes Pa Rd.

Fire services said the tornado was not serious and residents should not be concerned.
