Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is out of intensive care, having had emergency surgery for a brain haemorrhage last week.
Ferguson, 76, was hospitalised on Sunday NZT, undergoing the emergency procedure at Salford Royal Hospital in England.
In a statement released overnight, Manchester United confirmed the news of their legendary manager's condition.
"Sir Alex no longer needs intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient," the club said in a statement.
"His family have been overwhelmed by the level of support and good wishes but continue to request privacy as this will be vital during this next stage of recovery."
