Legoland unveils miniature royal wedding scene ahead of Harry and Meghan tying the knot

May 9, 2018

Legoland Windsor has unveiled a new miniature creation of Windsor Castle, complete with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in wedding attire, to celebrate the upcoming Royal Wedding.

Built specially for the occasion, the replica Windsor Castle is made up of 39,960 Lego bricks.

Despite being situated just five kilometres from the real castle, it's the first time that Windsor Castle has been added to the resort's Miniland attraction.

The castle took a dedicated team of eight model makers 592 hours to complete, and although Prince Harry was already a figure in Miniland this was the first time that the public will have seen a Lego version of Meghan Markle.

Her figure is a 10 centimetre tall 60 Lego brick mini Meghan Markle in her wedding dress and veil.

An intricately designed mini Ascot Landau carriage, made from 1,500 Lego bricks, has also been built so that the scene can accurately reflect the real wedding when Meghan and Harry will tour the streets of Windsor in the real Ascot Landau carriage.

Completing the scene are miniature Lego models of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, as well as best man, the Duke of Cambridge, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George and Princess Charlotte, plus the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Meghan Markle's parents.

There is no sight of Prince Louis as Legoland were not sure that he would attend the wedding.

The scene also includes an impressive crowd of 500 Minilanders - made from 17,000 Lego bricks - which mimic the real-life spectators expected on the big day, including the ever-present media.

Despite the royal guest list being kept secret, there are some celebrity Lego lookalikes, including Sir Elton John and his tiny tinted rose glasses, and perhaps more controversially the Spice Girls, with Ginger Spice wearing a Lego recreation of her classic Union Jack dress.

The whole scene took 11 model makers 752 hours to build and is made up of almost 60,000 Lego bricks.
