The Hurricanes have revealed their coaching set up for 2019, with former All Blacks and Blues great Carlos Spencer linking up with the Wellington side as an assistant to new boss John Plumtree.
Spencer, 42, will step into the role of current assistant Plumtree, who will ascend to the role of head coach at the end of the current season when Chris Boyd departs for the UK, joining English club Northampton Saints.
Current forwards coach Richard Watt and scrum coach Dave Cron will remain at the Hurricanes in 2019, while assistant John Holland will also stay on alongside Plumtree.
In a statement released this morning, Plumtree spoke of his delight at his team for next season, while also praising the capture of Spencer.
"I've worked with Carlos in South Africa when I was at the Sharks and I was impressed with him from what I saw then," he said.
"He has carried on that good work, not only in South Africa but in Japan, and I really look forward to working with him again. Everyone that I've spoken to about Carlos and the way he operates has impressed me and he is really positive about joining the group and the club."
