Confident much? Punter puts casual $100k bet on Hurricanes to beat Blues at Eden Park

May 9, 2018
The Blues' superstar could make his return for this week's clash in Auckland.

One punter is fairly certain how this weekend's upcoming Super Rugby NZ derby between the Blues and Hurricanes will go after putting a six-figure bet on the men from Wellington to earn a win at Eden Park.

According to TAB, one fan has put a $100,000 bet on the Hurricanes to win in Auckland on Saturday night.

The odds are set $1.23, meaning the punter would earn $23,000 should the Hurricanes deliver the goods.

The Blues currently sit as $4 outsiders.

The Auckland franchise snapped their five-game losing streak with a win in Sydney against the Waratahs last weekend but one spell they're still looking to end is their losing streak against fellow NZ Super Rugby sides which stretches back to 2016 - the Blues beat the Highlanders 33-31 on February 26 at Eden Park but haven't beaten a Kiwi team since.

The Blues are expected to be buoyed by the return of All Black midfielder Sonny Bill Williams after Augustine Pulu, Jerome Kaino and Patrick Tuipulotu all returned last week.
