Hurricanes star Nehe Milner-Skudder says he's happy with the competition within the squad at the moment, with a number of players in contention for the three outside back positions.
Milner-Skudder, 27, made his return to the starting line up for the Hurricanes last week, playing 65 minutes at fullback in his side's 28-19 win in Wellington.
However, in his stint on the sidelines, Barrett has had to watch as a number of Hurricanes stars have stamped their mark on the outside backs, with the likes of himself, Jordie Barrett, Julian Savea, Wes Goosen, Vince Aso and Ben Lam now competing for three places between them.
Speaking at his side's training today though, Milner-Skudder praised the depth of the current Hurricanes squad.
"It's pretty awesome," he said.
"It only helps the environment, everyone's got to be on their game.
"We're a pretty tight bunch, we all help and feed off each other.
"If you get an opportunity, you have to go pretty well. Otherwise the next guy in line will do his thing as well."
