A man is in police custody after it was reported someone was in possession of a gun in the Waikato town of Ngaruawahia today.
Police said two people in Ngaruawahia alerted them to a man with a gun at 9.30am.
A vehicle was stopped by police later today with a man and two women inside.
However, no firearm was found in the vehicle, and no firearm has been subsequently located.
The man in the car remains in custody, however no formal charges have been laid at this stage.

Police said they have also spoken with the two women.
