Could Israel Folau team up with Brad Thorn? Waratahs star reportedly in-talks with Reds

Wallabies star Israel Folau has had a storm of rumours swirl around what he plans to do at the end of this season, with the latest being a reported conversation with an All Black to move north.

Folau's contract with the Waratahs and Rugby Australia expires at the end of the year, which has seen the fullback linked to either a return to NRL or a move to European rugby.

But the Daily Telegraph reports that Folau has spoken with former All Black Brad Thorn about a move the Queensland Reds - the Super Rugby side Thorn currently coaches.

Talks between Folau and the Reds are reportedly in the "preliminary stage" with a number of obstacles that will need to be overcome if the 29-year-old is to make the shock move.

The rumour comes after Folau's wife, Silver Fern Maria Folau, tweeted during the Waratahs' loss to the Blues her disapproval of her husband playing on the wing for the New South Wales club.

Rugby Australia have confirmed they hope to re-sign Folau for next year's Rugby World Cup but the issue wasn't raised last month when he met with CEO Raelene Castles to discuss his use of social media after making controversial  remarks about gay people.
