Staff left shaken by aggravated robbery of Masterton store

May 6, 2018

Police are still appealing for witnesses after a Masterton store was robbed by masked offenders over a week ago.

Two men armed with a metal bar and a knife stole cigarettes and tobacco products after entering Ram Super Store at 9.20am on Friday April 27.

The men then fled the scene in a stolen 1989 blue Honda Civic with a broken quarter light.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later at the Riverside Cemetery.

In CCTV footage of the scene, one of the offenders can be seen wearing a dark hooded jacket, black track pants, gloves and black sneakers with white soles.

The man, whose face was covered by a camouflage scarf, was seen carrying a black square shoulder bag.

The other offender can be seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, disposable white gloves, dark pants with red lines down the side and black shoes.

His face was obscured by a white dust mask.

Staff were at the rear of the shop at the time of the incident and were shaken by the incident but uninjured, said Detective Senior Sergeant William van Woerkom.

He says the stolen car the pair were driving was seen in the Cornwall and Kippenberger Street area before the robbery and police are keen to hear from anyone else who may have seen it on that Friday morning.

Police would also like to talk to anyone who was in the Roberts Road area at the time and may have information that could assist the investigation or help to identify the offenders.

People with information are being urged to contact Masterton Police on 06 3700 300 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
