Johnny Danger's family announced on social media that they have taken his ashes to Thailand on a planned family holiday before returning with them for the cult Kiwi comedian's public send off.

The social media sensation was killed on Anzac Day while taking part in a commemorative motorcycle ride around Auckland.

Since then his family has left for Thailand where they will celebrate Danger's sister's 21st birthday. Brother Wayne Bennett explained on Facebook that the trip to Thailand with the ashes won't be his final send off.

The 'Danger Swig' was the Kiwi comedian's signature drinking move performed by many celebrities including Sir John Key. (Source: Other)

"Just to make it clear to everyone this wasn't his send off this was all so we could take him with us, we will be holding his memorial in a few weeks time all his friends and fans will be welcome the more the better,Much love from the BENNETT family see you all in a few weeks," part of the post reads.

A Givealittle page has been setup to raise funds for the public service and has raised over $6500 so far.

"Funds will enable the family to provide a public celebration in honour of Johnny's life. Including a venue and all associated costs this will incur.

"Any additional funds donated will go to Johnny's Mum & Dad," an explanation reads on the Givealittle page.
