Tending the fields in the red zone is more a less a full time job for Bryan Fairburn.

One that's cost him around $30,000 of his own money.

Bryan keeps around 14 hectares of grass groomed with his trusty ride-on mower.

Asked why he does it?

"Well we are supposed to be a Garden City and I see no reason at all why we shouldn't stay a Garden City," he told Seven Sharp.
