Fine weather will be giving way to heavy wind and rain to parts of the country this weekend.
A complex low developing in the north-west Tasman Sea is expected to make its way to the country, bringing with it the possibility of gale-force winds and heavy rain according to TVNZ weather presenter Dan Corbett.
By Saturday, the country will see a deepening low, bringing a good chance of heavy rain and strong winds for Northland, Auckland, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo and Northern Gisborne.
There is also a chance for heavy rain over northern Westland, Buller, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury and Eastern Otago.
Patches of drier weather is expected on Sunday.
