Watch: Terrifying near miss after car recklessly tries passing manoeuvre between two trucks

An Australian truck driver traveling on a SA highway has captured the moment a terrifying near-miss almost ended in carnage. 

Footage captured on dashcam shows the car attempt to overtake the truck at high speed, but misjudging the call and running out of room.

The car is seen traveling in the middle of the road, moving into the path of another oncoming truck, forcing both trucks to veer off-road to avoid a head-on collision.

Truck driver, Kym Franceschini told Nine News "I couldn't believe it."

"I'm thinking where are you actually going to go, there's nowhere for you to go."

The oncoming truck flashed his lights at Mr Franceschini to warn him of the oncoming car, allowing both to avoid a crash.
