Man, 18, charged after woman seriously assaulted, robbed in Christchurch's Hagley Park

An 18-year-old man has been charged over the serious assault of a woman walking to her car in Hagley Park, Christchurch, last night.

Police say the incident took place about 10.30pm and the man stole property from the woman after assaulting her and ran off.

Police arrested the 18-year-old nearby a short time later.

The man has been charged with aggravated robbery and other charges, and will appear at Christchurch District Court this morning.
