As a first of it's kind Te Reo Maori web series is set to be launched, it's creator says it's important Maori speaking kids see themselves in the media.
Pipi Ma creators Kristin Ross and Hohepa Tuahine are launching the first of it's kind te reo web series aiming to immerse preschoolers in Te Reo Maori.
Mr Tuahine says it's very important, primarily it's important for our Maori speaking kids to see themselves in the media.
Speaking on TVNZ1's Breakfast today Ms Tuahine says: "If we look at animation, everything we've seen to this date has been borrowed content re-versioned into Te Reo Maori,"
"This is the first time our preschoolers are going to have an opportunity to see a cartoon made by Maori for Maori, so they see a true representation of themselves."
The affirmation of identity is important and that's what Pipi Ma does claims Ms Ross.
The cartoon will be available on the 23rd of April on the Pipi Ma website .
