Man critically injured in Taupo hit-and-run

A pedestrian has been critically injured after being hit by a car in Taupo this afternoon.

The man was injured in a hit-and-run on Huka Falls Rd at 1.45pm.

He has since been flown to Waikato Hospital.

The car involved fled the scene but was located nearby.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are looking for the driver of the vehicle.

Huka Falls Rd has been cordoned off and members of the public have been asked to avoid the area.
