For Dame Valerie Adams, her 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medal doesn't compare to any others - thanks to her six-month-old daughter Kimoana.
Dame Adams nailed a season-best throw with her first attempt of 18.70m heave and sat equal-first until the fifth throw, when Jamaica's Danniel Thomas-Dodd threw a whopping 19.36m.
But this Commonwealth Games' silver "feels like a gold medal" to the 33-year-old.
"I feel like a winner only because of the last six months of my life, the last 18 months.
"We've only had training full on for the last three months, and started throwing since January. I think I've progressed as quick as I can, as quick as humanly possible to be able to be here in a power sport and to perform like I did today."
Just two months ago Dame Adams was only just cracking 16m and now she's managed a season-best, a new "post-baby personal best" and a silver medal.
"The road to get here has been hard, it’s been long, it’s been fun...I’ve given everything I’ve got to this medal."
Speaking to 1 NEWS after her successful competition Dame Adams teared up explaining that she "does it all for her" daughter Kimoana.
"It was amazing to have her in the crowd, because I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and to have her here with me.
"I didn’t realise I’d still be able to still compete and be a mum, I thought I would have retired by now."
