Auckland Civil Defence are warning of more damaging winds for the region tonight, as they urge those still without toilet facilities following Tuesday's storm to get in touch.

Localised damaging winds are being forecast in Auckland's west tonight from 8pm to midnight - particularly along west coast beaches.

The warning comes after a severe storm on Tuesday night caused widespread damage throughout the city.

The city has been left with hundreds of trees blocking roads, crashing into carports and falling onto houses. (Source: Other)

"During the last event, damaging winds were widespread and affected most people. This is not the case tonight – we expect severe winds to be rather localised this time around," MetService meterologist Georgina Griffiths said.

Auckland Council is also still trying to deal with a number of households still without toilet facilities.

“Much of Auckland is returning to normal but we are hearing anecdotally that there may be a small number of households whose waste water tanks need electricity to run and, given that power is still to be restored in some areas, we want to make sure that all Aucklanders have access to toilet facilities," Auckland emergency management director John Dragicevich said.

Mr Dragicevich said council does not have data on how many people are without toilet facilities but those affected should ring 0800 22 22 00.

A portaloo and portable drinking water source will be brought to those affected by tomorrow by Auckland Council.
