An Auckland man had a lucky escape last night when a tree crashed through his study window at his home in Bayswater.
Dr Jonathan Casement was going to do some work in his study when his daughter asked him to stay with her during the storm because she was scared.
A branch crashed right through Dr Casement's study window directly where he usually sits.
"We heard a loud bang and then the lights went out," he told 1NEWS.
"We didn’t know if it was the fuse or a tree. But then we went up stairs and saw the branches through the wall."
The family's trampoline was also thrown across the yard despite them having tied it down last night.
Dr Casement's wife Tina says the trampoline is so heavy it takes four people to lift.
The family had just completed renovations on their property but say they're insured.
