One person dead in Hamilton crash

One person is dead after a three car crash in Hamilton today.

Police say it appears that three cars were involved in the crash, which occurred on River Road, at around 8.20am.

One woman sustained serious injuries and has been transported to hospital.

A third person sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Cordons are in place on River Road, near the intersection with Kay Road.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
