Sky Tower struck by lightning as wild weather hits Auckland

Lightning has struck the Sky Tower this morning as wild weather hit Auckland.

Myrddin Gwynedd caught the moment a lightning bolt struck the tower on camera.

More than 200 lightning strikes have struck Auckland and Northland today as severe weather hit the country.

Heavy rain and strong winds have caused power outages across the city with over 3,000 homes affected.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country have been struck by tornadoes which have caused widespread damage.
