Immigration NZ programme halted by Minister amid concerns of profiling

Immigrations NZ's controversial pilot data modelling programme has been halted amid concerns it was using over-stayer data to find out which racial groups pose the most risk.

Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway put the programme on hold today to get further advice. 

The Greens say the programme breaches human rights but coalition partner Labour doesn't share their concern (Source: Other)

The pilot programme has been running for 18 months and there have been claims it used data to determine which groups most commonly run up hospital costs or commit crimes.
