Serious crash leaves SH29 closed in Tauranga and one person critical

A crash involving a car in Tauranga today has closed State Highway 29 and left one person in critical condition. 

Police were called to the crash in Matapihi at 10.40am today between Maungatapu road on ramp and Truman Lane.

One person has been transferred to Tauranga hospital with critical injuries. 

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and motorists should expect delays.

Police say traffic at the Maungatapu road roundabout are being stopped and Baypark traffic is also being turned back around.
