Train collides with car on SH6 in Westland leaving two in serious condition

A train has collided with a car on State Highway 6 in Westland this afternoon, leaving two people in a serious condition.

Police were notified of the accident at 2.30pm today which occurred just north of the main Chesterfield Rd crossing, on State Highway 6, Westland.

There were two occupants in the car, both of whom have sustained injuries.

St John Ambulance reported two people are in a serious condition following the crash.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and are en route to the scene.
