One person dead following car and truck crash in Waikato

One person has died at the scene of a crash near Timaru early this morning. 

Emergency services were called to the the crash involving a car and a truck around 1am on Canal Rd, Clandeboye, near Temuka. 

Two others were transported to Timaru Hospital.

A spokesperson from the South Canterbury DHB said at 2.30pm today one person remains in a serious but stable condition and the other was sent home.

The Serious Crash Unit are investigating.
