Four people have been rescued from an angry ocean by a group of strangers making a human chain off the coast of Redcar in the UK.
Bystanders rushed to aid an elderly man who slipped and fell into savage swells on Good Friday.
The Independent reports that after attempts to pull the man to safety, the waves put a number of the brave rescuers in difficulty themselves.
Footage shows they were eventually pulled out by the rescuers forming a human chain.
Local operations manager, Dave cocks told the Independent: "This was a sequence of events which could so easily have led to multiple deaths
"It is only through good fortune that all four were rescued alive."
