Ed Sheeran pops round to Jacinda Ardern's place for a cuppa and scones

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has taken to Instagram this evening, sharing a selfie of her and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran as he visited her in Auckland.

"Couldn't make any of Ed Sheeran's shows while he is here so cheekily suggested he come round for a cuppa and some scones" she said, sharing a photo of the two beaming in her living room.

Sheeran is on a whirlwind tour of New Zealand, playing shows in Auckland and Dunedin off the back of his highly successful album 'Divide'.

Despite the tight schedule, he managed to squeeze in a visit with the Prime Minister.

Ms Ardern wrote that she "didn't quite expect" the Grammy winner to say yes to the invite, and that it was an added bonus her scones "weren't a complete disaster".

Ms Ardern's partner, Clarke Gayford, tweeted: "It takes a village (and a pop star) to raise child", along with a photo of himself and Sheeran looking at the book 'I'm not fat I'm pregnant'.
