The Givealittle fundraising campaign set up by the older sister of the 11-year-old girl who was killed by a train in Ngaruawahia has reached more than $7500.
Moareen Rameka was killed on March 18 after she and other children were playing on a railway bridge in the Waikato town.
The money raised will go towards the cost of Moareen's funeral and anything else the family needs.
Commenters have offered a flood of sympathies to the family of Moareen, saying it "wasn't your time to go".
One commenter took aim at the town's council: "Nga [Ngaruawahia] paying $12,000 to fix a clock but can't afford a jumping platform for our babies."
Some locals said it wouldn't stop them jumping off the bridge, while others say they might now think twice before crossing the tracks.
