A teenager has been charged over an aggravated robbery of a Hamilton dairy earlier this month.
During the robbery of the Emm Jay dairy on March 13 the shopkeeper was hit in the head with an axe and machete.
Police say the 17-year-old male will appear in the Hamilton District Court charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated wounding.
During the early morning robbery two masked males came into the shop and approached the shopkeeper, who was working by himself.
They hit him on the head and hands before stealing cigarettes and cash from the store and leaving in a stolen Mazda Familia, registration FEP218.
They say the victim is still recovering from the significant head (fractured skull) and hand injuries he received during the attack.
Police say a 16-year old male is still wanted in connection with the incident.
Anyone with information on who the 16-year-old is, is urged to contact Hamilton Police (07) 858 6200 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
