Paralympic champion Adam Hall has broken down as he thanked every New Zealander following his gold medal win in the standing slalom at the PyeongChang games.

"I thought I was out of tears," Hall told 1 NEWS as he explained what the win meant to him eight years after claiming gold in the same event in Vancouver.

"It's been a journey of ups and downs and that’s what has been so cool to reflect on."

"To all of my family and friends, and all of New Zealand, I'm proud to be a Kiwi and can't wait to get home."
