One keen Kiwi cricket fan has started a Givealittle campaign , aimed to save the memorabilia of legendary batsman Martin Crowe.

Crowe's cousin - actor Russell Crowe - is auctioning off 227 lots to fund his divorce from Australian actress Danielle Spencer, which includes memorabilia from the former Black Caps captain's career.

Among those, his Test match bat with which he scored his final century at Lords in 1994 and his playing jersey from the 1992 World Cup.

Organiser Adam Gilshnan spoke about the desire to keep Crowe's items in the right hands, which he plans to donate to the New Zealand Cricket Museum.

"I'm a New Zealander in my mid-40s, for me Martin Crowe was cricket," he told the Museum's website.

"When I heard about the auction, I saw a great opportunity to do something to bring these items home."

Based on estimates, Crowe's items are expected to fetch between a collected NZ $11,400 and $15,800.
