Young Niueans travelled close to 3,000 kilometres to perform at the biggest Polynesian festival in the world.
The 24 students travelled from the only Niuean high school of just 200 students to grace the stage at the ABS Polyfest in Auckland.
Onlooker Meleua Ikiua says, "Beautiful, when I first met them I was quite emotional just seeing the kids from your homeland, knowing they're here to represent."
"To show the people here how it's done properly. How they do it here is different from how we do it in the islands" a performing student from Niue says.
After a lot of practise and a year of fundraising they performed today at Manukau Sports Bowl.
A Niuean teacher said, "I'm emotional at the moment because it's been a long journey but we made it here, and we're grateful to everyone who helped us get here."
