Ranui Primary's Zane Kukutai-Seumanu got his hands on a Halberg Trophy yesterday - the same one Team New Zealand picked up as the Supreme Award winners earlier this year.

Thanks to the Halberg Foundation, 9-year-old Zane - a left leg amputee, is now the proud owner of a useful hand cycle.

"To us, he doesn't have a disability – he's just like everyone else," Zane's teacher aide Elizabeth Wharetohunga said.

"When he gets to do all these cool sports events it's amazing – Halberg do such amazing job with it."

The Halberg Foundation have supported nearly 150 schools over the past two years.
