We can (almost) confidently pick three Kiwi victories this weekend, but there might be some doubt over the result of two of the clashes. It is a 50-50 call in the southern derby.
Chiefs v Bulls
Chiefs by 12
The Chiefs should be refreshed after one of the most welcome early byes in Super Rugby history.
They may have a propping crisis, but they welcome back Brodie Retallick and have kept Damian McKenzie at fullback. But they do have a strong loose trio, with Lachie Boshier lining up on the blindside.
The Bulls, conversely, will run out in yellow thinking that their opening win over the Hurricanes seemed so long ago. What has Mitch got in store for his old team?
Highlanders v Crusaders
Crusaders by 1
This is the ultimate New Zealand Super Rugby derby.
It is 10 years since the Highlanders engineered the biggest upset in competition history. It would not be an upset if they win this time, as the TAB cannot separate the sides.
Sam Whitelock has recovered from his head knock, while Tim Bateman replaces the concussed Ryan Crotty, meaning the Crusaders lose nothing in rugby nous.
The two Dixons, Ash and Elliot, will beef up the Highlanders’ bench.
Stormers v Blues
Blues by 7
Now is the hour for the Blues to win a rare second victory in their tour of the Republic and confirm their clear progress.
Bryn Gatland holds the No 10 jersey, while George Moala offers punch off the bench. Pauliasi Manu’s inclusion for the injured Alex Hodgman will strengthen the scrum. Watch for another dynamic Akira Ioane performance.
