At least 14 people have died after a powerful earthquake in Papua New Guinea.

The 7.5 magnitude quake rocked the remote highlands on Monday causing landslides and buildings to collapse.

The tremor also caused the area's $26 billion gas plant to close - the country's biggest export earner.
