Thousands of Golden Bay residents remain cut off from rest of country after major slips

Thousands of residents and tourists in Golden Bay at the top of the South Island remain cut off from the rest of the country.

They are cut off after Cyclone Gita caused major slips on the Takaka Hill - the only road in or out.

Authorities are desperately trying to clear State Highway 60 and and are shippng essential items to the area.
