Pedestrian dies after hit by car in Hauraki District

A male pedestrian has died at the scene after being hit by a car on Wharepoa Road in Netherton, Hauraki District on Saturday night.

Emergency services were notified around 9:50pm.

Police say Wharepoa Road is closed between State Highway 2 at Pekapeka Road and Hamilton Road, while the Serious Crash Unit attends the scene.

Diversions are in place.

The driver of the car is assisting Police with inquiries.
