A teenage boy has been reported missing off Sumner Beach, in southeast Christchurch.
Police and Emergency Services were called at 3:20pm regarding a water incident in Sumer Beach in Christchurch.
A Police spokesperson has told 1 NEWS the missing boy is 14-years-old.
The Sumner Surf Live Saving Club spokesperson has told 1 NEWS, they were searching near Scarborough Heads for the boy.
However, windy conditions have been making the search difficult, the spokesperson said.
As of 6.15pm this evening the search for the boy is being scaled down, but initially there was a helicopter and three rescue boats on the water looking for the boy.
Surf lifesavers and a helicopter have been stood down, but police are continuing their investigation.
